    February 21, 2025

Congratulations to Jeevan Poulose – 2025 National Merit Finalist!

University Heights Academy proudly celebrates Jeevan Poulose for being named a 2025 National Merit Finalist! This prestigious recognition places Jeevan among the top high school students in the nation, a testament to his exceptional academic achievement, dedication, and hard work.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition that begins with over 1.3 million nationwide students who take the PSAT/NMSQT. Only about 16,000 students qualify as Semifinalists, and after a rigorous application process—including academic records, leadership roles, community involvement, and a personal essay—around 15,000 advance to Finalist status. This distinction opens the door to potential scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, colleges, and corporations nationwide.

Jeevan, we are incredibly proud of your hard work and all that you have accomplished. Your dedication to excellence exemplifies what it means to be a Blazer and we can't wait to see all that you achieve next!

  • KMEA Jr Honor Choir

    Louisville, KY – February 7, 2025

Two talented UHA young vocalists, Arieanna Brody and Emery Jennings, recently made our community proud with an outstanding performance at the prestigious Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) Junior Honor Choir in Louisville, Kentucky. The annual event brings together the most gifted student singers from across the state for a few days of musical excellence and collaboration.

The junior honor choir, part of the larger KMEA conference, is a highly selective program designed to challenge and inspire middle school singers. After months of preparation and rigorous auditions, Emery and Arieanna were among the select few chosen to participate.

During the event, students had the opportunity to work with nationally acclaimed choral directors and perform a diverse repertoire of music, from classical selections to contemporary choral works. Their culminating concert at the Kentucky Performing Arts Center left the audience captivated.

"It was an incredible experience," said Arieanna. "Singing with so many talented kids from across the state really pushed me to grow as a singer."

Emery echoed the sentiment, noting that one of the highlights was learning from the guest conductor. "The way the conductor helped us connect with the music was amazing. I'll never forget that experience."

The KMEA Junior Honor Choir not only fosters musical growth but also helps young performers build friendships and connections with peers who share their passion for singing.

Their UHA chorus director, Jill Bressler, praised their dedication and enthusiasm. "Emery and Arieanna worked so hard to prepare for this event, the 11 hours of rehearsals in two days were grueling but it resulted in an incredible performance. We are so proud of them."

The community is already looking forward to hearing more from these rising stars as they continue their musical journeys. Their experience at the KMEA Junior Honor Choir is sure to be a milestone in what promises to be a bright future for both singers.
